CERRO GORDOHow do you preserve a place?
In partnership with:
Cerro Gordo is an abandoned mining settlement in the dry rain shadow of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains.Nearly $500 million of silver has been extracted there since the lode’s original discovery in 1865. At its peak, over 4500 miners called it home.A few years ago, the mine was purchased by Brent Underwood and other investors with the goal of preserving its history and making it accessible to new generations. In that spirit, Polycam has teamed up with Corridor Crew to capture as much of the settlement as possible in 3D and make those captures available to the public.Below you can explore all of our captures. If you see a Mozilla Hubs badge, that means the capture can be viewed interactively with a group of up to 50 people.
