New Walkthrough Mode 🏃🏽‍♀️

iOS
Enterprise only

We’ve released Walkthrough mode to Enterprise users.

This feature allows you to watch a playback of their Space mode model in the sequence that it was captured, following the route laid out by your original capture keyframes. It also allows you to inspect the original, constituent images, which would be immediately overlaid above the model view during this virtual walkthrough. This would be helpful if you are someone who needs to get a general 3D model of a space, while requiring access to the original, high-fidelity 2D images of that space. These images will also be uploaded and stored in the cloud, so that they are safely stored and available on all devices.

Introducing Workspace Switcher to teams

iOS
Web
Business and enterprise

Workspace switcher has been released for all Business and Enterprise teams. Instead of presenting teams in the left sidebar and selecting which team to move into, users change their workspace by selecting from a new Workspace Switcher dropdown on the top left of the screen.

With the introduction of the Workspace Switcher, a “Personal Workspaces” is now available to all Teams users. Every user starts with a personal workspace, and Pro customers effectively operate in their “Personal” workspace. The user has full access to their personal workspace, and content in their personal workspace is not shared with the organizations they are a part of. Think of it as a private space.

What happens when I try to move captures between spaces?

Instead of “sharing” a capture to a team through the workspace toggle, content will now be “transferred” from one workspace to another (you will see the option when you access your captures’ details). When you transfer a capture, the capture is moved to that organization and the source workspace no longer has access to the capture.

You can transfer captures in and out of a workspace if you belong to both workspaces, however, you can only transfer out of a workspace if you created a given capture.

What about Android?

Android devices will only show your “personal workspace”. Teams are currently not supported, and we don’t have plans to add that support any time soon.

How should this impact you?

Practically, almost all Polycam's Enterprise and Business teams utilize a single team/organization. Therefore, there should be no material change to how you interact with Polycam.

What happens during capturing?

On iOS, the workspace switcher should default to the last team you have set it as. While you are capturing, you will be able to see the workspace that the capture will live in via a visual indicator on the screen.
