HOW IT WORKS

Two steps. One site visit. Leave with your sketch complete

Everything is done on your phone. No sketch service to call. No file to wait on. No back-office step.

STEP 01

Scan the property

Walk the space with your iPhone. Polycam captures walls, openings, doors, windows, and ceiling heights. Everything you need for a complete Xactimate sketch, captured in one visit.

2 to 3 minutes on-site

STEP 02

Export directly to Xactimate

Tap export. Polycam submits a complete ESX file via the Verisk API and it lands in your Xactimate account in minutes. Open it, build your estimate, close the claim.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Answers before you ask

1. Is the ESX file accepted by carriers and Xactimate?

Yes. Polycam submits ESX files via the official Verisk TPI API, the same pathway Xactimate’s own integrations use. The file opens in Xactimate like any other sketch. This is not a PNG underlay to trace over. It is a complete, claim-ready ESX project file delivered directly to your Xactimate account.

2. Do I need an iPhone Pro with LiDAR?

For the fastest, most accurate ESX export, yes. iPhone 12 Pro or newer with LiDAR gives you the best results. Polycam runs on the phone most adjusters already carry. If you are on a non-LiDAR device, reach out and we can walk you through options.

3. How accurate is it compared to DocuSketch or Matterport?

iPhone LiDAR captures room dimensions to within ½-inch tolerance on standard residential and light commercial spaces. Unlike DocuSketch, which routes your scan through a human QA team, Polycam’s measurement data goes directly from the LiDAR sensor to the ESX file with no manual interpretation step.

4. Can I edit the Xactimate sketch before it goes to Xactimate?

Yes, optionally. After scanning, Polycam generates a floor plan you can review and adjust on your iPhone before exporting. You can rename rooms, adjust labels, and confirm openings on-site. Or skip it and do your edits directly in Xactimate once the ESX file arrives. Either way works.

5. What is actually in the ESX file?

A complete room-by-room Xactimate sketch including walls, openings, room dimensions, labels, and floor layout, ready to use as the basis for your estimate. It is not a pre-populated estimate. That part is still yours to build. But you will never manually sketch the property again.

6. Why $11.99 per export instead of a monthly credit pack?

Because sketch services like DocuSketch sell you credits in bundles whether you use them or not. With Polycam, you pay only when you export. A slow month costs you nothing extra. A busy month scales naturally. At 20 exports, you are paying $640/year total versus $6,270 with DocuSketch’s comparable plan.
