Every calculator relies on the numbers you enter manually. Scan the room with your phone using Polycam and get exact dimensions and floor plans within minutes.
Questions, answered
Add up the wall area (perimeter × ceiling height) and the ceiling area, then divide by the area of one sheet: 32 sq ft for 4 × 8, 48 sq ft for 4 × 12. Add 10–15% for cuts. A 12 × 12 ft room with 8 ft ceilings needs about 19–20 sheets of 4 × 8.
Only for large openings, like garage doors, wide patio doors or picture windows. Pros often leave standard doors and windows in, because the cutouts become offcuts and waste anyway. A Polycam scan records every opening's size, so you can decide with real numbers.
Cost depends on your region, sheet type (standard, moisture-resistant or fire-rated) and the finish level you want. The calculator estimates hanging and finishing costs for your location. Higher finish levels for smooth or painted walls cost more.
A scan captures interior and exterior dimensions, wall, window and door openings, room labels, furniture and fixtures. Multi-floor layouts come out as labeled 2D and 3D plans, with the wall areas and openings a drywall takeoff needs.
Standard interior captures are accurate to within about half an inch. Space complexity, scan coverage and your device can widen that tolerance, so review dimensions on site and correct anything before you export.
